Hergé, Tintin and Advertising
Abstract
Hergé was the author of The Adventures of Tintin, one of the most important works in the history of comics; in the early years of his professional career, he developed a career as a publicist, which had a notable influence on his approach to comics. He also considered advertising essential to promoting his albums, developing various strategies. Finally, when the Tintin phenomenon began to reach a significant scale, he created a team of collaborators, Studios Hergé, which, among other tasks, was responsible for using the images of his characters to create advertisements promoting a wide variety of products.
