The effects of television and the cognitive process of information
Abstract
The different investigations on the effects of television have generated a wide controversy about how spectators react to television programs. Given the existence of different types of effects, investigations have followed different channels. On the one hand, television has been studied as a socializing instrument. As a means of social information, there is no doubt that television influences the development of knowledge of reality through the presentation of models or archetypes, patterns of behavior, etc. In this sense, she is considered a «teacher» of «ideal» behavior or values, positively highlighting certain aspects of human behavior, and not others. Other fields of analysis have been placed in the study of the specific effects on children, the effects of political information on the change of attitudes, the effects on the emotional orbit, etc. Keywords
